Brettermayer jailed for sexual assault

A 28-year old Port Alberni man was given the maximum provincial sentence of two years less a day, for sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16.

Chad Brettermayer admitted his guilt as soon as the incidents came to light, turning himself in to police.

His quick admission of guilt and lack of a criminal record kept Brettermayer out of federal prison, but Judge Alexander Wolf still had strong words for the abuser, saying no sentence will erase what has taken place, and that “no one should touch children, because they are precious”.
