It’s been almost 20 years since the movie Insomnia was shot in Port Alberni, but other big productions have been looking lately, according to Island North Film Commissioner Joan Miller.
The head of the Vancouver Island North Film Commission said location scouts have been impressed with many sites in and around Port Alberni
Miller said because of confidentiality agreements, she can’t say if there are further projects pending in the region, but said despite being a small office, the north island film commission has been very successful in luring productions out of Vancouver and over to the island.
She said a Toyota commercial is about to hit the American Market that features McLean Mill and the Alberni Pacific Railway in their ads.
