A man is dead and three others injured after a single vehicle crash on Highway 4 last night.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at 9 pm west of Sproat Lake, in the westbound lane six kilometres west of the Sutton Number 1 Bridge.
Corporal Mike Halskov of BC RCMP Traffic Services says there are few details at this point as the investigation has just begun.
“A vehicle with four people in it, including two children, went off the road and an adult passenger has passed away as a result of the collision.” he said.
The area has no cell service, so there is no certainty on what time the crash happened, but the highway was limited to single-lane alternating traffic for several hours and fully reopened around 3 a.m.
RCMP could not release further details, including the severity of the injuries to the other three passengers.
Central Island Traffic Services is handling the investigation.
