BC Elections has released spending reports from October’s municipal election, and the two top spenders in Port Alberni failed to get elected.
Mike Ruttan spent $15,800 in an attempt to retain the Mayor’s chair, while Sharie Minions spent $9600 to win.
Hira Chopra spent the most of any of the 20 councillor candidates, and was less than 200 votes shy of a seat on council after spending $5700.
Meanwhile, Cindy Solda took second spot in the vote and didn’t spend a dime.
