City council will review a new protocol agreement with local First Nations this afternoon.
The new agreement drafted in close consultation between the governments calls for meetings at least once a year between Port Alberni City Council, and the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nations.
The government-to-government agreements are designed to increase communication between councils and initiate joint community development projects.
City Council will present the agreement at the first of the new afternoon regular meetings, which starts at 2 pm.
