A Port Alberni couple who captured a man they say was trying to lure their underage daughter into sex, have now been charged for assault causing bodily harm and unlawful confinement.
The story drew international attention in April, after the couple intercepted messages being sent to their 13-year old daughter, and invited the 29-year old man over, after advising the police.
Crystal Voigt broadcast the incident on Facebook Live, as she, her partner Kevin Arbanas, and friend Shaun Cutting tackled and handcuffed the suspect with zap straps.
Voight and Arbanas pled not-guilty on Wednesday and will be back in court next Friday to set a date for their trial, while Cutting pled out and will be sentenced on that day.
Charges against the couple were approved by Crown Counsel in Victoria, and not local Crown which is unusual.
While the man at the centre of the incident has not been charged, police say he is still the subject on an ongoing investigation.
