While many in the Alberni Valley opened their homes to stranded visitors during the recent windstorm, and others were out clearing trees from surrounding roads and neighboring properties, another element was at work on the outskirts of town.
Thieves saw the power outage as an opportunity to raid logging areas, stealing tools and damaging equipment at various sites around Cameron Division.
There are also reports of thieves harvesting snapped power lines along Bamfield Main, profiting off the storm that sunk hundreds of Bamfield residents into darkness for almost a week.
