City water supplies remained strong throughout the summer.
Utilities Superintendent Brian Mousely said we were fortunate that we only had Stage 1 water restrictions, while many other cities around BC and the Island were at Stage 3 or 4.
But despite the restrictions we were still overusing water through the drought.
Mousely said we used almost the same amount of water this past August as we did August of last year when there was no restriction.
He said during the hottest days of the summer, we were using 1000 litres of water per person in Port Alberni.
