Three people submitted their election forms yesterday shortly after the nomination period opened.
Denis Sauve was first to register for the Mayoral race, while Helen Poon and Karl Hamagishi have been nominated to run for councillors.
Today, incumbent Mayor Mike Ruttan will submit his papers along with more newcomers to municipal politics.
City Electoral Officer Davina Hartwell says for the first time, candidates names and nomination papers will be posted on the City of Port Alberni’s website as soon as possible after they’re checked and filed.
