Firefighters across B-C have more wildfire starts to contend with — mainly due to lightning strikes this past weekend.
Coastal Fire Centre Information Officer Donna MacPherson says lightning caused dozens of new wildfires on the North Island.
There are 3 fires burning in the Alberni Valley – the 26 hectare Arbutus Ridge fire, 10 hectare Beaufort blaze, and a small fire north of Taylor Arm.
Port Alberni acting Fire Chief Wes Patterson said city crews were involved with the Arbutus and Taylor Arm fires along with provincial forest fire fighters.
All local fires are believed to be human caused.
There are close to 600 wildfires burning across B-C.
