The city has condemned the former CJAV Building on Third Avenue – posting Do Not Occupy signs on the front door.
The building owned by Randy Brown has been the subject of much attention from city council and recently declared a nuisance property.
City CAO Tim Pley said the Do Not Occupy order came after bylaw, building, and fire inspectors determined it was unsafe for anyone to live there.
He said the city worked with mental health and community service groups to make sure tenants were moved to better places.
One of the former tenants identified as a hoarder by the building owner, has since been relocated to a house a couple of blocks down from her former residence, which has now also earned the attention of city bylaw and fire inspectors.
