In addition to putting the Martin Mars waterbombers back to work, Mayor Mike Ruttan will also introduce a plan to cut down on slash burns throughout the province.
Ruttan said in this day-and-age when wood fibre is desperately needed for so many things, burning post-harvest residue is economically as well as environmentally irresponsible.
Ruttan will introduce the motion at the Union of BC Municipalities annual convention happening this week in Vancouver.
