After a poorly-timed forecast for rain, the storm clouds stayed away from the Thunder in the Valley weekend.
The first rains in almost two months hit during the night, and Alberni Valley Drag Race Association president Bill Surry said when he first saw the forecast he was scared it was going to rain on the races for a third year in a row, but it all turned out great.
He estimates more than 2500 people showed up for the races, and there were no crashes or incidents during the weekend, although there were a couple of close calls.
Surry said they were able to have 9 time trial runs, a full schedule, plus grudge matches at the end.
