A hot weekend in the Alberni Valley saw firefighters battling a pair of blazes
A family was forced out after a fire in their Redford Street apartment on Friday.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to just one of the 8 apartments in the building, and emergency services were able to relocate those affected.
On Saturday afternoon, thick plumes of smoke were spotted towards Mount Arrowsmith, where a forest fire was believed to have been started by someone using exploding targets.
TheĀ 20 hectare blaze off the Cameron Main was fought by helicopters and the local Thunderbird Unit Crew as well as logging contractors
It was finally doused late yesterday and is in the mop-up stage today, and police are investigating the cause
Wildfires have begun sprouting up across the province along with the rising temperatures this weekend.
Crews are also working to control fires near Tatla Lake, 100 Mile House and Houston.
