So……. when is it ok to start playing Christmas music?
December 1st? After Remembrance Day? After US Thanksgiving weekend, which is this weekend coming up?
NEVER?
Or would you like to ALREADY be hearing Christmas music? I HAVE heard some stores playing Christmas music already. I’m not sure I’m ready.
Mariah Carey even spoofed herself the last two years, on NOVEMBER 1st, posting a video of her being defrosted, ready to deliver us a steady stream of “All I want for Christmas is You” – which is absolute BANGER of a Christmas song by the way!
In the end, I don’t really know the answer to when it is – and when it isn’t the “Holiday” season. I do know, from experience working at 93.3 The Peak, that opinions are wildly varied. It’s not uncommon to receive – in the course of a single hour three different phone calls and/or interactions from listeners that go something like this:
#1 You aren’t playing enough Christmas music
#2 You are playing too much Christmas music
#3 Why are you playing Christmas music
Hahahahaha!
It’s a challenge to keep everyone happy I tell ya!
