The Bulldogs won back to back games on home ice, to stretch their post season winning streak to six games to sweep the Chilliwack Chiefs in four straight games and advance to the Coastal Conference Championship series for the second time in as many years.
The Bulldogs won game three 5-1 on Tuesday night. Chilliwack took a 1-0 lead early in the game on the power play and held it into second, when Samuel Leonard tied at one. After a disallowed goal at the midway point of the period, the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead on a Fischer O’Brien marker before Grayson Badger scored in the final minute of the second to make it 3-1 after 40 minutes. Brady McIsaac and Caden Tremblay found the net in the third to complete the scoring.
Callum Tung was again fantastic in net, stopping 44 of 45 shots to earn first star honours.
The Bulldogs won the series with a 3-2 win on Wednesday night. Mason Croucher opened the scoring on the power play three minutes in before Jacob Terpstra made it 2-0 before the game was nine minutes old. The Chiefs responded less than a minute later with a power play goal to make it 2-1 after one. That score held until the final 90 seconds of period two, when the Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead on a Matt Kursonis power play goal. Chilliwack pulled their goalie with under four minutes to play in the third and made it 3-2, but that’s as close as the comeback came as the Bulldogs made the lead stand.
Callum Tung earned second star honours with the win in net.
The Bulldogs await the winner of the other Coastal Conference Semi Final series, and could know their opponent as early as Saturday night when the teams meet for game six at the Q Centre.
