A couple charged with the murder of a child, pled guilty to manslaughter in Port Alberni Supreme Court yesterday.
29-year old Rykel Charleson and 30-year old Mitchell Frank were the mother and step-father of 6-year old Don-Tay Lucas, who was being transitioned into the family home after being removed at birth.
Only a week into his being reunited with his family, he was dead.
Charleson and Frank claimed he fell down the stairs but medical investigators said it was from blunt force trauma to his head, and obvious signs of abuse and neglect.
Yesterday the pair pled guilty to an agreed statement of facts in the case, admitting they seriously abused the toddler.
They will be back in court on May 16th for sentencing.
