The battle over the fourth Avenue trailer park is nearing an end, with the opening of the neighbouring tiny homes.
The city has given notice to clear the property and landowner Randy Brown says he will comply.
“We have an agreement that I signed months ago that as soon as the pods were ready for occupation then I get 45 or 60 days to move the trailers out and I expect to do that in a lot less time than that,” he said. “I want to be done with this thing. I’ve done it for three winters now and I just want to be done with it and move on.”
He says only 15 people were living in the dilapidated trailers recently and believes they will now be housed in the little homes.
Brown opened his controversial trailer park in the fall of 2020 and since then has been issued more than $130,000 in fines he refuses to pay the city, but said he would pay the money to the Salvation Army in lieu.
Brown has hauled some of the trailers off for demolition and will be moving others to another property for sale.
