This summers closure of Highway 4 hurt many businesses west of the hump, but one business used the slow-down to their advantage and have been awarded for it.
Twin City Brewing owner Aaron Colyn said they focussed in on their recipes and came out of the summer with some award-winning beers.
“The silver lining on that road closure was that we had some time to really do a deep-dive into our beers and do a lot of assessing and fine-tuning and by the time the submissions came around for these awards we had a lot of beers that we were very, very proud of” he said. “We got really nerdy about beer and going into the weeds is what makes good beer great and we were able to do that with a couple of our beers and we’re really grateful for the recognition.”
This weekend, three of Twin City’s brews won awards in their categories, and the brewery was named the top craft brewery in BC
Today, their brews are being sampled at the Canada Beer Cup event in Niagara Falls, and they’ll be live-streaming the awards at the brewery starting at 4 this afternoon.
