Chinook fishing is begin to tail off, but not before one lucky angler landed a 34 pounder at the Bamfield Wall.
Bait and small spoons are working best for chinook while coho are hitting white hootchies and spoons trolled a little faster around Whittlestone, Pill Point, Bamfield Wall, and Diplock.
Colby from Gone Fishin’ says river fishing is still hot with anglers allowed two chinook a day, one over 77 cm and one under, and two coho over 30 cm.
Most people at Somass Park are using either bait, spinners or spoons, and the #4 and #5 Blue Fox spinners for coho.
25,000 chinook have already made it through the counters, so we will hopefully have as good a chinook fishing season in 4 years as we did this year as 94,000 chinook were caught by the different sectors.
