Roger Creek gully fire

Port Alberni firefighters have been working through the night to control a blaze in the Roger Creek gully behind North Island College.

The fire was first reported at 9 o’clock last night and fire crews are still on scene, hitting hotspots.

BC Wildfire are also on scene and could call in helicopter bucket crews unless the fire can be extinguished soon.

The cause of the fire has not been determined but is suspected to be human caused.
