The last in a series of public discussions on the needs and benefits of an aquatic centre happened last night at Echo Centre and Cherry Creek Hall.
The gathering was part of the first phase of a 3-stage planning process over the next 2 years.
Design director and architect Darin Harding said they heard a diversity of thoughts and opinions last night.
“We heard a lot of passion for a new aquatic centre in the Alberni Valley and the benefits that it will bring to the community,” he said. “We heard also concerns; worry about costs and worry about the impact it might have for the users, so a lot of really great feedback from both sides.”
40 people attended the session at echo centre last night, but Harding says more than a thousand people have participated in the online survey, which wraps up today.
