A 55-year old Tofino man is dead after a snowmobile accident on an un-named mountain east of Mt. Klitsa.
The man was snowmobiling with friends on Sunday morning when his snowmobile flipped and landed on him, causing traumatic injuries to his chest.
Two rescue helicopters tried to land near the area but weather conditions wouldn’t allow, so a medical rescue unit was dropped near the site.
Rescue crews were able to extract him but he died of his injuries before reaching hospital.
