Council was also asked yesterday, to help find $2.5 million for an expanded skateboard and adventure sport park.
Reanna Miller from Community Futures said the current skateboard park beside Echo Fields is one of the worst in BC and desperately needs to be updated.
“The current all-wheel skateboard park is among the oldest in the province,” she said. “The concrete is severely deteriorated and there are few individual features. There’s no beginners area, no lighting, and it has fallen well behind the modern standard build.”
Miller said Community Futures would assist by helping to write grant applications.
The adventure sport park would expand the use by skateboards and scooters, to include bmx and mountainbikes.
