The woman who slashed the throat of a liquor store employee last summer, will spend the next 3 years in prison.
31-year old Melinda Martin went into the King Edward Liquor Store on 3rd Avenue on August 8th and attempted to walk out with a bottle of rye.
A female employee tried to stop her and Martin pulled out a knife and slashed the clerk’s neck.
In sentencing her yesterday, Judge Wolf told Martin she’s lucky the wounds weren’t more severe or she could have faced a considerably longer sentence.
Martin, who has 14 prior convictions for violence, is still being investigated for her role in the death of Terrence Mack in his Third Avenue apartment in May of 2021, and a shooting in Ucluelet later that month where she was shot six times by police.
