Courtenay – Alberni Member of Parliament Gord Johns said 2022 was a busy year, and he predicts 2023 will be even busier.
The two-term MP says one of his main focusses has been bringing federal money and resources into the riding – something that didn’t happen in the preceeding decade of Conservative rule.
“We were getting far less than our share under the previous Conservative MP and since I’ve been elected my top priority has been ensuring that we get our share from Ottawa,” he said. “That’s something that were were able to see again in 2022; it was a very good year for our riding.”
He said he helped secure $4 million for the paper mill, $2.6 million for Pacific Coast University, and money for social service agencies, the quay-to-quay project, and fisheries habitat restoration.
He said more money will be coming to the Alberni Valley in the new year but he wasn’t able to elaborate just yet.
