Port Alberni’s 61st city council gets sworn in at 7 tonight with some new, and some familiar faces.
Justice of the Peace Kim Touchie will administer the oath of office to the 7 council members before Mayor Sharie Minions presents a list of committee appointments, and names herself and councillor Deb Haggard to the regional district board.
Over at the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District office, they’re preparing for a byelection in Cherry Creek since only 4 votes separated the two candidates and there were a number of incorrectly completed voter registration forms.
According to a press release sent out Friday, the ACRD will be asking a BC Supreme Court judge in Nanaimo next week, to declare the Cherry Creek election invalid.
Mike Sparrow will represent Cherry Creek at the inaugural board of directors meeting and swearing in ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.
