After ten days of investigation, Port Alberni RCMP say a recent report of an attempted abduction was a hoax.
A ten-year old girl reported a man had grabbed her on Bishop Avenue near John Howitt elementary around 3:30 Thanksgiving Monday afternoon, and a teenaged boy intervened and scared the older man away.
Port Alberni RCMP Media Relations Officer Richard Johns said “given the nature of the report, all available resources were utilized”.
This morning, police announced that after “an exhaustive investigation, and in consultation with the complainant, officers determined that there was no abduction attempt”.
