Both the City of Port Alberni and Alberni Clayoquot Regional District confirmed the results their elections yesterday.
The ACRD announced Saturday’s results in Cherry Creek will be going to the BC Supreme Court for a decision given the closeness of the vote, and possible irregularities with voters on election day.
Mike Sparrow leads Darren Deluca by just 4 votes, but will represent Cherry Creek until a decision is made by the court.
The ACRD faced voter irregularity issues in the last election as well, after some Beaufort electors mistakenly voted in Cherry Creek.
No voting results changed in the municipal election, but new residents who registered on election day changed the number of total electors, reducing the overall turnout rate from 33 to 32%.
