Tom Verbrugge is the only person challenging Sharie Minions for the Mayor’s chair in the upcoming municipal election, but 21 people are vying for one of six council seats.
In a random draw Friday, retired Crown Counsel lawyer Todd Patola’s name will appear first on the ballot, and former city councillor Charles Mealey will be last.
Incumbents Ron Paulson, Cindy Solda, Dan Washington and Deb Haggard will be joined on the ballot by: Sandy McRuer, Joshua Dahling, Peter Rueschmann, Graham Hughes, Dustin Dame, Jim Del Rio, Michelle Bisaro, Carol-Anne Zanette, John Douglas, Char Patterson, Seva Dhaliwal, Richard Huneault, Terry Deakin, Sukhdev Krishan, and Wendy Lee Kerr.
Over at the regional district office, they’re extending the nomination period for Long Beach since no one put their name forward.
Meanwhile three people will be on the ballot for Sproat Lake, and two for both Beaver Creek and Cherry Creek.
Bob Beckett was acclaimed for Bamfield, and Fred Boyko will represent Beaufort.
10 people will be on the ballot for the 7 school district trustee positions.
Three people have stepped forward to replace Ucluelet Mayor Mayco Noel who is not running for re-election, while all four people who put their names in for a council seat have been acclaimed.
In Tofino, Mayor Dan Law has been acclaimed and seven people have been nominated for the 6 council seats.
We go to the polls on Saturday, October 15th but there will be early polls and mail-in voting options.
