The long-awaited aquatic centre feasibility study can now begin.
Regional District directors approved a $92,000 contract for a comprehensive review.
The City of Port Alberni is providing most of the funding, with the rural areas also participating.
Sproat Lake area director Penny Cote complained that her area is contributing more than the other rural areas combined, and warned that assessment-based model won’t work for her constituents when it comes to paying for the pool.
A previous feasibility study was done in 2011 but ACRD CAO Daniel Sailland said that plan is outdated
