A 37-year old Port Alberni man is prohibited from returning to the community for 2 years while on probation for multiple assaults and threats.
James Rennie assaulted his former spouse after she found him housing through the social service agency she worked at, and threatened her co-workers with a machete.
He was sentenced to 75 days time served and put on probation yesterday.
Crown Counsel Gordon Baines said despite having no previous criminal record, he was an extremely high risk to reoffend due to mental health and addiction issues.
