Rural taxes increase



Rural taxes are set to increase this year
The Alberni Clayoquot Regional District held its first budget meeting of the year on Wednesday and outlined plans to increase tax revenue from $24 to $27 million.
Beaver Creek residents could see their taxes increase by 19%, Sproat Lake up by 11% and Beaufort and Cherry Creek 2% and 1% respectively.
Port Alberni’s contribution to the ACRD could increase by 7.8%
The Emergency Planning Department budget will increase from $200,000 to just under $300,000, and a new communications department has been launched.
The Regional District Board meets again this coming Wednesday to further debate the 2022 budget and 5-year financial plan.
