Emergency crews were kept busy over the weekend with another apartment building fire, the snowfall, then extremely icy conditions last night.
Fire crews were called to an apartment fire at 3 am Sunday, according to fire captain Ian Ritchie.
“We were busy over the weekend. We did have a structure fire on 7th Avenue in the Dogwood Manor Apartments,” he said. “There were people displaced, and they probably still are because we had to cut power to the building.”
One person was taken to hospital and two dozen people were displaced.
Fire Investigators will be on scene this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.
The Alberni Valley Rescue Squad is also reporting a busy weekend, including the rescue of an injured snowmobiler near Antler Creek, which is south of Klitsa Mountain.
SAR Techs from 442 Squadron hoisted the subject into a Cormorant helicopter and flew them to hospital.
Multiple car crashes were reported over the weekend due to the slippery surfaces with some people taken to hospital after their air bags deployed.
