A 47-year old Port Alberni man was sent to jail yesterday, after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a person under 16 years of age.
Daniel Jensen was 34 when the historical assaults happened 13 years ago.
Crown Counsel asked for 3-4 years in a federal prison, but Judge Wolf cited a number of mitigating factors including Jensen’s remorse and previously clean criminal record and sentenced him to 2 years less a day in provincial custody.
Wolf said while Jensen admitted to being abused as a child, his actions created another generation of survivors.
Jensen will be on probation for 3 years after his release.
