Former city works superintendent Randy Fraser has asked questions of city council he feels aren’t being answered.
He’s concerned about a hole that was dug on the fall fair grounds this past summer so a hammer-throw competition would produce nationally valid results.
He said city crews spent three weeks digging the hole and another week filling it in before fall fair weekend, but is frustrated city staff seem to be covering it up.
“It’s unfortunate that it’s hard to get any information or answers from them, which leads to more suspicion of local government and what’s really going on or what’s being hidden,” he said. “It’s frustrating, but we’ll just keep asking.”
According to Alberni Track Club more than 60 athletes used the hammer throw area this past summer with three achieving national placings for their results.
Fraser continues to press the city for actual details of the project and cost / benefits analysis.
