City Council is moving forward on the Quay to Quay path project, hiring a landscaping consultant to begin a public engagement process.
Mayor Sharie Minions says the city plans to launch online and in-person engagement opportunities to hear people’s opinions of the project.
“We’re really excited to be moving into the next steps of the Quay to Quay project,” she said. “We are going to be starting our public consultation and engagement in the very near future, encouraging as many people as possible to give feedback before we get to a point where we’re ready to start construction.”
Minions said the if consultation can start this fall, it could mean construction of the $7.2 million waterfront walkway could begin in the Spring.
City Council also approved a proposed path along Beaver Creek Road from Compton to Ahaswinis Drive.
The city has partnered with the Hupacasath First Nation and the $193,000 project will be 80% funded by the province.
