A 75-year old Port Alberni man was sent to jail yesterday, for an indecent assault committed in the late-1970’s.
Gordon Benner was 31 when he sexually touched a 7 year old girl in his Cameron Drive home.
The victim told the court how the incident had negatively affected her life and relationships, and why she decided to come forward and file a police complaint in 2018.
Benner, who had been sentenced in 1985 for touching three other young girls, said he didn’t remember the incident but believed the woman, and pled guilty.
He was sentenced to two years less a day.
