Port Alberni police target drug dealers

Port Alberni police removed $400,000 worth of drugs from the streets over the past few months.

Local RCMP targetted mid-level drug dealers, serving 4 search warrants and arresting 10 people.

Inspector Eric Rochette says officers recovered stolen property along with the drugs.

“We recovered a bunch of stolen property: generators, tools, and firearms as well,” he said. “We seized a fairly large amount of illegal drugs: cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamines, methadone, GHB.”

Rochette says police also seized a handgun, a taser, a replica gun, and many knives and other weapons.

They also seized more than $13,000 in cash and a car they hope to seize and sell to fund future operations.
