The Alberni Clayoquot Regional District released their first-ever strategic plan this week.
The plan lists five main focus areas, with strategies and objectives
ACRD board chair John Jack says post-pandemic recovery plays a major role in the plan.
“What we can do to leverage good grant funding from the province or the federal government, in addition we’re looking at things like improving broadband, enhancing agricultural development and really underlining what we can do with parks and trails as a region because we see that as an underdeveloped opportunity,” he said.
The board also passed their 5-year financial plan, where rural property owners will see tax increases of less than $50 on an average home.
The budget also includes $70,000 towards a feasibilty study for a new aquatic centre in Port Alberni
