Some long-term care workers in the Alberni Valley have yet to receive the promised pandemic pay.
Workers directly employed by Island Heath have received the bonus, but workers at contracted care homes have not.
Mid-Island / Pacific Rim MLA Josie Osborne said she has spoken to Ministry of Finance staff and expects the issue to be resolved within the next few days.
“Unfortunately there has been a delay in certain cases, and there are a number of administrative reasons why, and that doesn’t excuse the problem for people and I can understand how frustrating this is, and the province is working really hard to get the money out,” she said.
Osborne said the BC government committed $297 million in pandemic pay bonuses to the provinces 200,000 healthcare workers, and staff are working hard to make sure all eligible workers recieve the money.
