With real estate analysts declaring that the Alberni Valley is now in a seller’s market, Mayor Sharie Minions says the city is perfectly placed to begin selling off some properties that are not part of any long-term plans.
“It’s a great time for us to be looking at the properties we have. Some of them we know we want to hold on to long-term for specific values like recreation. A lot of the properties that we have, really just sit,” she said. “We’re really trying to look at ways to accomplish our goals and improve the quality of life for all citizens of Port Alberni without just jumping to tax increases.”
Minions said a main priority for city council this year is the development of the Quay-to-Quay pedestian path, and she says a public engagement process will be launched soon.
