Salvation Army exceeds target

The local Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign exceeded its target by more than 30% according to Captain Michael Ramsay

“Our goal was $100,000 this year and we raised more that $130,000, so that goes a long ways to help feed and care for all the people we have been taking care all the way through the COVID as well as providing the toy hampers and the special Christmas hampers to all the families who are in extra special need at this time of year,” he said.

Ramsay said more than 500 hampers were distributed before Christmas with food for families and toys for children.

He said they are also feeding beween 200 and 400 people each day through their mobile food truck and other sites around town.

He said the needs of people were through the roof this year, and said the ‘community with a heart’ responded.in spades.
