A man sentenced for trying to rob the Royal Bank on Third Avenue wants to be allowed back into Port Alberni.
25-year old Graeme Martel said he was suffering from a drug-induced psychosis in September 2017 when he threatened a teller with a syringe, and claimed to be carrying a bomb he could detonate with his mind.
Now living in Tofino, Martel requested the court to allow him to come to Port Alberni to shop for groceries and other essentials.
Judge Alexander Wolf, who sentenced Martel in October 2019 agreed to the request but maintained his ban from the RBC.
