The city is selling off a large parcel of land on Anderson Avenue.
The five lots were deemed to be surplus to city needs, and given the strength of the real estate market, Mayor Sharie Minions said it’s a good time for the city to sell.
“It’s a bit about selling the property for the money we’ll receive for it, but longer-term it’s more about having all of the properties withing the municipality contributing to our tax base,” she said.
Minions said the disposal of some city properties was part of council’s strategic plan, and funds generated will go into a land sale reserve fund that can be put towards improving other properties.
