Port Alberni city council member Helen Poon will be running for the Liberals in the next provincial election.
In a press release from the BC Liberals, leader Andrew Wilkinson said “stellar candidates like Helen are driving the rapid renewal of the BC Liberals at a time of unprecedented change and challenge”.
While the next provincial election isn’t scheduled for another year, Premier John Horgan could call an election at anytime, and there are many who believe he will call it early.
This week he asked his MLA’s to let his office know if they’ll be running in the next election.
Sources within the local NDP Constituency Association say 4-term, 15-year incumbent Mid Island / Pacific Rim MLA Scott Fraser will not be seeking another term.
