As Ottawa begins to restart under new pandemic protocols, Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns says NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was here on the weekend to have in-depth discussions and take grass-roots messages back to the nation’s capital.
“Our stop in Port Alberni was part of a Vancouver Island tour,” said Johns. “He met with front line workers in the opioid and housing crisis, he met with small business and Indigenous leaders, so he’ll be bringing back some importance directives from the people in our communities.”
Johns said there’s been no traditional summer break this year as MP’s participate in COVID committee meetings, and the fisheries committee he’s involved in continues to discuss the wild salmon policy through zoom meetings.
Singh’s visit to Port Alberni on Sunday was his third in three years.
