City Council took another step towards the Quay to Quay path project yesterday.
Council gave staff permission to pursue multi-million dollar grants for federal and provincial funding which would help cover the costs of planning, designing and building the multi-use path connecting Victoria and Harbour Quays
Mayor Sharie Minions said the project has been discussed by multiple councils as a way to highlight Port Alberni’s waterfront.
“We hope the path will be as much on the waterfront as possible, but where necessary we will divert around and our staff have some creative ways to do that,” she said. “We’re really excited to start talking about those plans and we’ll have some maps coming out shortly for the community to look at.”
Minions said public consultation will begin next month
