Bamfield Road improvements discussed

Almost a year after a tragic bus crash on the Bamfield Road, local leaders are still trying to impress upon the province the importance of improving the road.
Forest Safety Council Ombudsman Roger Harris wrote a report on the road more than a decade ago, and said overlapping jurisdictions have prevented progress.
Huu-ay-aht Chief Councillor Robert Dennis said his First Nation has lost 8 members due to crashes on the Bamfield Road, and his council approved a $5 million contribution toward the estimated $30 million cost of chip sealing.
Alberni – Clayoquot Regional District directors voted to pursue a meeting with Premier John Horgan and Minister of Transportation Claire Trevena to discuss the issue as soon as possible.
