Alberni – Clayoquot Regional District directors voted against giving themselves a raise yesterday.
The proposed reumeration plan would increase the types of meetings and events the directors could get paid for, including emergency operations centre updates and radio interviews.
Beaver Creek area director John McNabb immediately railed against the motion, saying it would be wrong to give themselves a raise while so many people are off work because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sproat Lake area director Penny Cote argued in favour of the motion saying staff are paid to be at additional meetings and directors should be too.
The motion was defeated.
